What is Malware?
Malware is a short name meaning malicious software. Malware can be defined as any program designed to harm or exploit computer systems and networks.
As noted above, malware is a script intended to cause harm. The most common effects of malware are significant damage to computer systems and networks, including stealing PII (personal identifiable Information) and users' data, damaging computers, and files, disrupting normal computer usage, and crashing systems.
There is a variety of malware but the common ones are viruses, worms, Trojans (also referred to as trojna horse), ransomware, adware, and malicious spyware.
How to protect against malware?
To protect against malware keep your applications such as OS and other software up to date, use reputable antivirus software, and practice safe browsing habits such as avoiding clicking on email attachments and visiting unsafe websites. Also, install applications from their official pages and app stores. Illegal applications are often used to spread malware such as worms.
Remember to regularly back up important data to help mitigate the impact of malware attacks.
